Former Fairfield County Sheriff Herman Young (second from right) was honored Monday night with the S.C. Order of the Palmetto, the state’s highest award, for his 52 years in law enforcement, 22 of which were spent as Fairfield County Sheriff. With Young are State Rep. MaryGail Douglas, State Sen.
