The Griffins were eventually knocked out of play by Irmo, who went on to take the trophy. “We got some good work in,” Griffin head coach Demetrius Davis said. “We’re young, and we’re not very deep, but we’re getting better.” Blythewood High School is getting their work in over the summer as well. This weekend, the Bengals are at Olympic High School in Charlotte for the Cam Newton 7-on-7 (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.); at Presbyterian College on July 8, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.; at Rock Hill High School on July 16, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.; and will host the FCA 7-on-7 on July 24, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Westwood High School, meanwhile, hosts tournaments on July 9 and July 23, both at 5:30 p.m.
