Bengal Swimmers Earn State Times at Invite

AUGUSTA, GA. – The Blythewood boys swim team placed sixth overall out of 15 teams at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Augusta, Ga. Saturday.

Matthew Owens (100 fly), Hayden Kasavicha (200 IM, 100 fly), Sean Bell (100 free, 100 back) swam state qualifying times in their events. Ademar Cubero also qualified for state in the 200 medley and 400 free relays.

The Bengals broke the school records in those events as well on Saturday. Kasavicha also broke his own record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.23. Cubero got the state consideration time in the 100 breast, Josh Axtell got the state consideration time in the 100 free, and Marcus Kovachitch got the state consideration time in the 50 free.

The Lady Bengals, meanwhile, placed 12th overall. Anna Ross qualified for state in the 200 free and the 100 fly. Alison Spencer and Leah Kay swam state consideration times in the 200 IM and 100 breast.
