Building a better Blythewood

The future brings many challenges to Blythewood that must be confronted.

We are growing at a fast and inevitable rate which demands thoughtful planning and delivery of services and amenities to match our expectations.

We can maintain our history and community values while ensuring our roads, infrastructure, utilities and amenities are up to par but it will require commitment and determination to make it happen.

The Master Plan for Blythewood has been on the books for years and I want to see more progress made with those goals and objectives to make our Town the jewel of the North East!

Community Involvement

I have lived in Blythewood with my wife, Emily, since 2004. Our son Zac has moved away from home but still lives nearby. I have been fortunate to serve Ashley Oaks as secretary of the HOA for three years and have worked hard to achieve a desirable and valued place to live. I have also gained a lot of experience serving as Chair of the Planning Commission for Blythewood. This has taught me the importance of listening to and understanding the needs of the residents of Blythewood and also the business community.

I do believe more use could be made of the experience and expertise available in the supporting Boards and the Community to make better, faster decisions.

Let’s Make it Happen!

South Carolina law requires Blythewood to adopt a Comprehensive Plan that addresses the current and future needs of the residents. We have a Plan on the Town web site which is currently under review and which I strongly believe in and support. The Plan considers the current position of the important issues affecting the Town and makes recommendations for preserving our history and culture but also ensuring we have an infrastructure and amenities to sustain the growth of the Town.

Key success factors to ensure progress will be: Leadership; Executive Action; Accountability and Determination (LEAD). I have demonstrated these qualities by obtaining $10.3 million in re-allocated Penny tax funds to improve the roads in our Town. I have made a personal commitment to improve the Town’s road network as a matter of urgency. In addition to several ordinance modifications, I have also helped develop the Vision for Blythewood and re-shaped our Comprehensive Plan into a more logical document that we can work with.

I care about our Town and with my background, experience and communication skills I shall be proud to represent you and be active in addressing Blythewood’s needs and contributing towards its future development.
