Clemson University freshman placekicker Greg Huegel (92) bangs in a field goal in Monday night’s National Championship game against Alabama. Huegel, a walk-on this season, was booting them in for the Blythewood Bengals just a year ago, and he earned his stripes for the Tigers this season, delivering in the clutch as Clemson roared to a 14-0 record entering Monday’s showdown with the Tide. Huegel was two of three on field goal attempts in Monday’s 45-40 loss to Alabama, with his longest coming from 37 yards out. His lone miss was deflected at the line of scrimmage. The former Bengal was also a perfect four of four on point-after tries.
