BLYTHEWOOD (March 2, 2016) – The Bengals boys’ lacrosse squad, powered by Landon Barrow’s 3 goals and 5 assists, jumped out to an early lead Tuesday night, rolling over Spring Valley 19-5.

Blythewood came out on the attack on both offense and defense, keeping the Vikings off balance all night, and by the end of the first quarter, the Bengals had built a 7-0 lead. Jake Roth, Kadden Brown and Roman Huntley would ultimately pitch in 4 goals each in the frenzy.

Spring Valley broke the spell in the opening minutes of the second quarter when Matthew Tate launched a quick goal. Tate chucked in a pair of goals in the period to help trim the Spring Valley deficit to 10-3, but despite the Vikings best efforts to bring game back within reach, Blythewood hit double digits midway through second quarter. The Bengals headed into the break with a commanding 11-3 advantage.

Spring Valley opened the second half with a few strong defensive stands, keeping Blythewood out of the goal. But the Bengals soon found their first-half rhythm, stretching their lead to 12-3 by the end of the frame.

In the final period, the Bengals poured salt into Spring Valley’s wounds, adding 7 more to their tally.

The Bengals, now 1-0 in region play and 1-1 overall, host Clover tonight (March 4) at 7 p.m.

Scoring: B – Jake Roth 4, Kadden Brown 4, Roman Huntley 4, Landon Barrow 3, Justin Williams 1, Mac Martin 1, Matt Clary 1, Trey Edwards 1.
