Blythewood Middle School sixth-grade student Michaela Lanier won first place in the 2015-2016 Letters About Literature contest, hosted by the S.C. State Library. Lanier wrote a letter to author Linda Sue Park after reading her book “A Long Walk to Water” for a book project. Lanier is invited to attend an award ceremony on April 29 where she will be introduced by a state judge and will read her winning letter to attendees. She will receive an award plaque and monetary prize.
