WHS Names New Boys Basketball Coach

Coach DiBattisto copyBLYTHEWOOD (May 12, 2016) — The boys basketball program at Westwood High School has a new head coach. Jeffrey DiBattisto comes to Richland Two from Dreher High School in Richland One where he served as head boys basketball coach and Assistant Athletic Director. His career spans 16 years.

“We are very excited to announce the hiring of Jeff DiBattisto as our new head coach,” said Jason Powell, Westwood Athletic Director. “Jeff is an up-and-coming coach who has gained a wealth of basketball knowledge with coaching stops on the collegiate and high school level. We look forward to watching the progress of this program under his leadership.”

DiBattisto has served in administrative, teaching and coaching positions at Gardner-Webb University-Boiling Springs (N.C.), Miami Dade College (Fla.), The Hammond School and Cardinal Newman School, and Bishop England High School in Charleston.

He expressed appreciation for the confidence Principal Dr. Cheryl Guy and Powell have in him to lead the basketball program.

“This is a chance, in many ways, to forge our own path with Westwood basketball and do things that haven’t been done. It’s simply too good to pass up, and I’m looking forward to getting started,” he said.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of South Carolina; a Master of Arts in Sports Science, Gardner-Webb University, N.C.; and Master of Education, University of Dayton, Ohio.
