Richard Winn Academy eighth-grade cheerleaders Anna Mathias, Blythe Edwards and Emma Castles stopped in Summer Day gift shop in downtown Winnsboro last week to cheer on the shop’s owner, Kathy Timms, second from left. The students’ surprise visit was one of several efforts the students are making to support businesses and organizations in the community as part of the school’s new Eagle Care Program whereby RWA students offer their services for community projects. “It is our students’ way of giving back to the community,” said the new Head of School, Brandy Mullennax. “And, along with giving back and offering a helping hand, they will learn about the different businesses, organizations and entrepreneurial opportunities that are in our community.” For information about the program, call 635-5494.
