COLUMBIA (Oct. 28, 2016) — The Blythewood High School girls golf team finished third at the two-day 5A state tournament held Oct. 24-25 at Wildewood Country Club, marking the highest finish in school history with a final score of 701.
Lexington led the pack with a total score of 645 to take the state title. White Knoll finished second with a two-day score of 683.
Sophomore Parker Stalvey finished with the fifth-best individual score out of 88 total golfers, shooting 157 and earning All-State honors. White Knoll’s Jensen Castle led all golfers with a two-day total of 152. Gracyn Burgess of Lexington came in second with 154. Lexington’s Isabella Rawl and Spartanburg’s Anna Morgan tied for third with 156.
Eighth-grader Mary Kathryn Talledo, whose 164 score tied her for 12th, was the next highest finisher for the Lady Bengals.
Stalvey, Talledo and freshman Cori Langford each earned All-Region honors earlier in the season.
Freshman Lindsay Hoile shot a 183 for the Lady Bengals, finishing 31st, while junior Maddy Richards placed 51st with a 197. Langford and junior Kellan Young tied for the 62nd spot with a 208 each.
