Josie Jennings Atkinson, center, is still every bit the cowgirl she was when her family ran the JJ Ranch in Blythewood. Atkinson, who now lives on a farm in Arkansas, was honored on Saturday afternoon with a drop-in at the Blythewood Historical Society. Wearing jeans, a Texas-size western belt buckle and a silver boot necklace, Atkinson greeted old friends who used to ride and hangout at the ranch before it was forced to close after her parents, Jimmy and Sybil Jennings, were killed in a plane crash in 1964. Pouring through scrapbooks and newspaper clippings of the glory and tragedy of the JJ Ranch from 1958 – 1964, are, from left: Jim McLean, Jane Wilson, Claudia Robbins, Joe Trapp, Atkinson, Richard Branham, Mary “Bo” Corley, Martha Ann Trapp and Margie McCrory.
