Members of the Jenkinsville Community gathered Sunday afternoon for the grand opening of the new Jenkinsville Recreation Center which is located next to the new Jenkinsville Fire Station. JENKINSVILLE – Members of the Jenkinsville Community gathered Sunday afternoon for the grand opening of the new Jenkinsville Recreation Center which is located next to the new Jenkinsville Fire Station.
Bertha Goins, Councilwoman for the Jenkinsville area, welcomed guests and recognized the county and state dignitaries present and presented plaques of appreciation to County Administrator Jason Taylor, who was out of town, and Deputy Administrator Davis Anderson. State Representative MaryGail Douglas spoke to the community about their long awaited recreation center and specifically thanked Bruce Wadsworth for his persistence and pressing the Council to build the center that had long been promised to the community. After Anderson raised the flag the group cut the ribbon and then at hotdog lunch prepared and donated by The United Lodge #401.
- Vice Chair of Fairfield County Council Bertha Goins welcomed the community and introduced Lori Schaeffer, Recreation Director; Pastor Rick Gibson who led the welcome prayer; Rep. MaryGail Douglas and Pastor Quincy Pringle who asked the blessing on the luncheon.

- The speaker, State Representative MaryGail Douglas, encouraged everyone in the community to participate in the activities of the center and to support it as a volunteer.
- Two cats from the animal shelter tagged along to the event with Director of Animal Control, Bob Innes, in hopes of being adopted.
