BLYTHEWOOD – Ty Baumgardner, 2013 AP North Carolina State Coach of the Year, has been touted to replace Jeff Dibattisto as the next Westwood Redhawks boys’ head basketball coach. Dibattisto agreed this offseason to become the Athletic Director at Dreher, where he was formerly the head basketball coach. Dibattisto led the 2018 Redhawks to a 19-6 record, earning a share of the program’s first ever region title and a trip to the third round of the playoffs.

Baumgardner has coached the Collins High Eagles in Suwanee, Georgia over the past four seasons, finishing 20-8 last season. He has had college assistant stints Elon and Emporia State University.
