BHS soccer beats South Florence, WHS and FCHS eliminated from playoffs

BLYTHEWOOD – The Blythewood Lady Bengals soccer team opened their bid for a 5A championship run with a 7-1 win against South Florence in the opening round playoff matchup. Loranna Austin pulled out the hat trick, Lauren Hendra netted two goals and Claudia Watson also added a goal.

The Blythewood boys also pulled out a victory, 5-0, over South Florence with goals from five different Bengals. Paddy Orr and Logan Shay tallied one each in the first half. The second half saw scores from Skylar Davis, Evan Nienhuis and Ethan Poungthana. Goalie Josh Burkhead had seven saves on the night.

Westwood and Fairfield were not at fortunate with their opening round match-ups. The Lady Redhawks suffered a 13-0 first round loss to South Aiken, and the Lady Griffins also bowed out in the first round after a 15-0 loss to Powdersville.
