Snider – van Romburgh

Sometimes you have to travel to the ends of the earth to meet your true love.

Therefore, with much joy, John and Kathleen Snider of Ridgeway announce the engagement and pending nuptials of their daughter, Marie Katherine, to Riaan van Romburgh of Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Marie and Riaan met in Gabarone, Botswana, where Marie teaches at Botho University and Riaan is a construction project manager for Yantse Construction and Civil Engineering.

Marie is a graduate of Richland 2 schools, and obtained her BA in English from the University of South Carolina and her Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Monterey Institute in California.  She is currently an English Language Fellow under the auspices of the US State Department and has previously taught in the Czech Republic and Myanmar.

Riaan is the son of Andre and Marietjie van Romburgh, and received his BA in Theology from Global University.

The wedding is planned July 14, 2018, at the Bakubung Bush Lodge in Pilanesberg Game Reserve in South Africa. The open-air ceremony will be officiated by Pastor Johan Nortje of the Apostolic Mission Church.  A traditional South African braai (barbeque) and a safari will be part of the wedding festivities.

The couple plans to settle in the U.S. next year, at which time a stateside reception will be held with family and friends.
