Obituary: Ethel Pearson Walters

WINNSBORO – Mrs. Ethel Pearson Walters, 81, of Winnsboro, SC, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018 after a brief illness.  Born in Blackstock, SC, on September 12, 1936, she was the oldest child of the late Cliff and Spence Shirley Lewis.

Ethel is survived by daughters, Cheryl Calcutt (Roger) and Sheila West (Glenn); sons, Scott Pearson (Luz), Steve Pearson (Joye Douglas), Jimmy Walters (Helen) and Tommy Walters (Becky); sisters, Mary Ann Edenfield and Nancy Watkins (Tris) and brothers, Jimmy Lewis (Emmie), Tommy Lewis (Robin) and Keith Lewis (Alice); 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ethel is predeceased by her husbands, Tom Pearson and Olen Walters; her sister and brother-in-law, Scottie and Henry Wright, and her brother-in-law Sam Edenfield.

Retired from Fairfield Manufacturing, Ethel worked her way up from a sewing machine operator to the Assistant Manager. She was talented beyond words as a seamstress and gardener.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  She was loved and will truly be missed.

A service honoring Ethel’s life was held at the First Church of the Nazarene of Winnsboro on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11:00 am conducted by Reverend Harry Varn. Visitation was be held one-hour prior at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 am.  Burial will follow at Stephen Greene Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stephen Greene Baptist Church cemetery fund, 500 Seventh Street, Winnsboro, SC 29180.
