WINNSBORO – Plein Air artists painted the town in Winnsboro Friday and Saturday. It was the local component of a national Paint Out sponsored by Oil Painters of America (OPA).

Local and visiting plein air artists painted everything from the town clock to a couple of orange peppers growing on a fence.

The event, organized by Barbara Yongue, president of the Fairfield County Arts Council, culminated in the announcement of the winners at an art reception held at the Woman’s Club. First place went to Gerard Erley, second place went to Noelle Brault and both third place and People’s Choice went to Pete Holland.

Plein air artists are dedicated to capturing changing light and shadows of nature
