Lady Redhawks look to top region

BLYTHEWOOD – The Lady Redhawks won Monday’s home conference match against Region 4A-3 foe Ridge View. Westwood swept the Blazers 3-0 with scores of 25-18, 25-6 and 25-15. The match, which was rescheduled because of Hurricane Florence, was the second meeting of the two teams. In the first match, Westwood downed the Blazers 25-17, 25-12 and 25-13.

After Monday’s match, the Lady Redhawks are tied with South Pointe in region standings, both teams with 7-1 region records. Westwood’s only region loss of the season came at the hands of York, which they avenged last week at The Castle with a final of 3-2. South Pointe has defeated York 3-0 in both regular season meetings.

Westwood hosted South Pointe for their final regular season matchup on Wednesday, a game also rescheduled due to Hurricane Florence, but scores were not available at press time. In their Oct. 2 meeting, Westwood took home a 3-0 win with finals of 25-18, 25-20 and 25-22.

The Lady Redhawks travel to Richland Northeast for their final regular season contest on Oct. 18.
