Richard Winn extends win-streak to four

BATESBURG – The Richard Winn Eagles were riding on three-game win streak heading into their matchup with King Academy, and their dominance continued. RWA exerted complete control over the Knights and soared to 49-0 win.

Zack Taylor had a night to remember in the Eagles’ final regular season road game. He went 18 for 20 passing to go along with 284 yards and a stellar six touchdown passes. He now has 24 touchdowns this year, 1,322 yards passing and only three interceptions.

Four of those touchdown passes came in the first half, but Richard Winn’s first score of the night was a two-yard Taylor run. Then later in the first, Taylor dialed up Hudson Wade for a 33-yard score.

Taylor struck again as time expired in the first quarter. The 36-yard scoring pass to Jimmy McKeown put the Eagles up 21-0 at the end of one. Taylor and Wade struck again midway through the second. Their second touchdown connection was a 35-yard pass.

The Knights were completely locked down by the Richard Winn defense, and they were not able to get inside Richard Winn territory once in the entire game. They only managed four first downs in the game, 77 yards passing and were in the negatives in rushing yards.

Later in the second, the Eagles’ explosive aerial offense struck again. The 19-yard touchdown from Taylor to Jake Clyburn put the Eagles up 35-0 before halftime.  Richard Winn has scored a combined 76 points in the first half of their last two games.

The Eagles continued to take bites out of the Knights’ secondary in the second half. Midway through the third quarter Taylor found Gavin Douglas for a five-yard touchdown pass. Richard Winn carried a demanding 42-0 lead into the fourth.

Austin Lancaster came up with an interception early in the fourth quarter, which led to the Eagles’ final score of the game. Seven plays after the interception, Taylor completed a 13-yard touchdown pass to Joey Bannister.

Richard Winn wraps their regular season up on Thursday against Wardlaw.
