Serving the Community

The Omega Gamma Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority celebrated three years of service in Blythewood on Dec. 12. Chartered with 70 members in 2015, its membership has grown to over 100. High school students living in the Blythewood community were able to participate in the chapter’s ASCEND program. The chapter offered free health promotion initiatives in the Blythewood community and also has donated items to support Jeep Rogers YMCA, Richland District Two’s Backpack Program, Tricia’s Trunk Ministry and Sandy Level Baptist Church Relief for Storm Survivors. Additionally, the chapter helped make improvements and revitalize Blythewood Park through their partnership with Richland County Recreation.
