Westwood wrestling has strong performances

FORT MILL – The Westwood wrestling team had their hands full when they traveled to Fort Mill for the Kinglsey Classic. 17 teams flocked in from four states, including the defending 4A State Champions Eastside and several other ranked 4A and 5A squads. The Redhawks finished 13th overall, but had several standout performances.

Jordan Hightower, the team captain, finished first in the 152-pound pool on day one and ended the tournament with a fourth place finish. Tyvion Shannon finished fourth at 195 in the day one pool, and he ended in the fifth. Hightower had a 5-2 record and Shannon went 5-3.

Drake Lesher, Drevon Johnson, Eli Villa, Gabe Smith and Trinity Lunn all sat in third place after day one. Villa finished in fifth place with a 4-4 record. Javon Brown was in fourth place in a highly competitive heavyweight division, but suffered a tough loss in the quarter finals.
