COLUMBIA – The Blythewood Bengals had a packed slate of holiday action, including participating in the Chick-Fil-A Classic, but they began the New Year with a matchup against the Eau Claire Shamrocks. The Bengals picked apart the Shamrocks to the tune of an 88-50 victory. Tre Jackson had the heavy hand for the Bengals and finished with a game-high 27.

Eau Claire trailed 6-22 after a quarter of play and found themselves down 23-44 at the half. The Bengals continued to toy with Eau Claire in the second half, and by the time third quarter was over Blythewood led 61-35. Travis Thompson had 16 in the winning effort and Kameryn Manual had 10.

The boys were not the only set of Bengals to ring in 2019 with a big victory. The Lady Bengals also rolled over their Eau Claire counterpart. Alexis Mims and Lakrya Weeks nearly outscored Eau Claire themselves in Blythewood’s 53-16 win.

Weeks and Mims had 27 points combined. Weeks led all scorers with 14 points.
