Tech Bytes: Creating Characters not on Keyboard

The original way to create special characters not found on the keyboard.

Ensure that the Num Lock key has been pressed, to activate the numeric key section of the keyboard.

Press the Alt key, and hold it down.

While the Alt key is pressed, type the sequence of numbers on the numeric keypad.

Release the Alt key, and the character will appear.

See all the special characters here:

https://www.alt-codes.net/

Another way is to use Windows character map tool.

In search type c then click on Character Map.

And this displays:

Click on the desired character and Select and it puts it into the buffer.

Then right click and Paste, or ctrl V and the character will appear. ®
