Redhawks split wins with Stallions

ROCK HILL – The Westwood Lady Redhawks suffered a close-region 3-4A loss in Rock Hill on Tuesday night. The Redhawks held a tight lead going into the fourth, but could not survive South Pointe’s furious charge to the lead. Westwood was outscored 17-11 in the final quarter, and the Lady Stallions pulled off the 65-61 win. Unique Drake led the Redhawks in scoring with 20, and she also had five assists, four steals and three rebounds. Malayziah finished with 17 points, five rebounds and three assists.

The boys, however, continued their winning ways with a 63-51 victory and remained undefeated. Ta’jay Dunlap had 14 in the win, and Russell Jones Jr had a solid 12-point performance. Tyrell Huff recorded 10 points of his own.

Jones Jr was recognized Friday night before the Lancaster game for hitting the 1000 point mark in the Redhawk win over Richland Northeast.

Both Redhawks teams will face off with region foes Ridge View for their first regular-season meeting on Friday at Ridge View.
