Griffins track and field set to compete at Qualifiers

CAMDEN – Both Fairfield Central mens and womens track teams finished third last Wednesday at the SCHSL Region 4-3A meet at Camden High School. The Griffin mens finished with a total score of 70 and the womens team finished with 76.

Ryusei Takahashi’s finishes in 1600m and 3200m were the only first place finishes for the Griffin mens team. Krishayla Boyd and Alyssa Boyd both snagged individual first place finishes in their fields, and the womens 4×100 relay team also finished first.

Griffin Mens Results

Takahashi finished first in the 1600 at 4:59.14, followed closely by Malik Beaver in second with a 4:59.52 personal record. Takahshi also finished first in 3200m at 10:53.25. Joshua Mosley placed third in 3200 with a 11:09.54 personal record.

Malik Coleman finished second for the Griffins in the 800m at 2:16.24 followed by Beaver in third at 2:18.89.

The Griffins 4×800 relay team of Takahashi, Beaver, Coleman and Jarrod Neal placed second at 8:55.32.

Ray Davis’s 40-00.00 finish in shot put and 107-09.5 in discus placed him in second in both fields.

Keenan Davis placed third in 110m hurdles with a 16.62 personal record.

Jordan Boyd finished third in long jump at 20-03.00, followed by Jalen Banks in fourth with a personal record of 20-01.00.

Griffin Womens Results

Krishayla Boyd topped the 100m at 12.45, a personal record. Boyd placed second in the 200m at 26.53 and fourth in the 400m.

Alyssa Boyd placed first in shot put with a personal record of 31-01.00 and first in discus at 75-04.

4×100 relay team of Anaya Pea, ZyKirah Davis, Karis Davis and Boyd finished first at 49.99. Ashanti Thompson, Nia Lemon, Sarah Pullen and Chatara Johnson finished second in the 4×800 relay.

Trenell Boyd placed second in 100m hurdles at 17.43 and third in 400m hurdles at 1:18.99.

Margo Benbow placed second in long jump for the Griffins with a 16-04.00 personal record.

Lemon placed third in the 1600 with a 6:21.59 personal record. Thompson also finished with a personal record of 6:25.93 to put her in fourth.
