Westwood XC readies for postseason

CHAPIN – Westwood Cross Country competed against Chapin, Irmo, Dutch Fork and Airport high schools on Oct. 2 at Crooked Creek Park in Chapin.

The Redhawk boys finished second of the five teams. Jordan Alexander-Coleman finished with a time of 17:52.89 to take fifth place, first for Westwood. David Nelson followed in ninth place at 19:00.05. Joe Eberlin, Jace Risher and Bryce Strickland finished 12th, 13th and 15th places respectively.

Emma Ashley continued to highlight the Westwood girls team. She finished with a time of 20:56.86 to take second place of 30 runners.

Westwood took to the Darlington Carnival on Oct. 5. The boys team finished 10th overall with an average time of 19:22.41, and the girls finished 18th with an average of 25:21.71.

Nelson finished first for the Redhawks in 21 with a time of 18:19.36. Willian Tyndall followed at 18:42.81. Eberlin, and Risher also finished under 20 minutes.

Ashley topped Redhawk runners again with a ninth place overall finished and a time of 20:41.81.

The Redhawks will have a break before Cici’s Derby on Oct. 26 and the Region 3-4A meet on Oct. 30.
