Jenkinsville man arrested for murder of Andrew Trapp

WINNSBORO – Cortez Javar Whitener, 20, of Jenkinsville has been arrested for the murder of Andrew Marquise Trapp. Whitener was arrested last week, on Nov. 13, and a statement was released to the public Monday afternoon after The Voice requested information about the arrest earlier in the day.

Deputies responded to a shooting incident at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 2, on Cole Trestle Road where there had been a large gathering of several hundred people. Upon arrival, deputies found several gunshot victims. Fairfield County EMS transported all victims to the hospital where Trapp was pronounced dead.

Whitener has been charged with murder along with four counts of attempted murder, two counts of discharging a firearm in to a vehicle while occupied and possession of a weapon in a violent crime.

Whitener is currently being held in the Fairfield County Detention Center.
