Jean McCrory elected chair of Library Commission

WINNSBORO – History was made recently at a Fairfield County Library Commission meeting when, for the first time, the board elected a woman to lead the Commission.

Jean McCrory, a lifelong resident of Fairfield County, was unanimously elected chair of the Commission last week She is currently serving her second four-year term on the Commission.

“Ms. McCrory is a valuable member of our Commission and we’re looking forward to her being chair this year,” Eric Robinson, library director, said. “She is involved not only with the library, but with the community. She is certainly the right choice for us.”

McCrory, retired from the bookkeeping department of First Citizen’s Bank, is the scholarship committee chair for the Fairfield High School Alumni Association and serves as clerk and choir president for Shady Grove Independent Church.

Rebecca Dodds was elected as vice-chair for the Commission, and Robert Drake as Treasurer.
