BLYTHEWOOD – Today is the ‘hard opening’ for the Town of Blythewood/Planning Commission Survey that the town’s elected officials are asking every family living in 29016 to fill out and return to Town Hall.

An information card with a QR Code is inserted in this newspaper which is being delivered to every home in 29016 and the QR Code for accessing the survey is posted in restaurants and other businesses around town as well as on the town government’s website, the online town newsletter, The Voice’s social media sites, the Next Door app, some town HOA websites and on other online sites of businesses and nonprofits around the town.
Hard copies of the survey are available at town hall, the farmer’s market and the Chamber office.
The project is a joint effort by the Blythewood town council, the town administrator and the town’s planning commission. The survey is designed to find out what folks in town and those living in 29016 want for Blythewood now and in the future.
Poised for enormous growth in northern Richland County, the Town of Blythewood is embarking on its 10-year comprehensive plan that will address ten elements, including housing, economic development, preservation of natural and cultural resources and land development. Each element of this plan will have specific goals intended to keep the town on track to grow well while maintaining its essential rural character and rich history.
For this plan to accurately reflect what citizens want for the town and surrounding community, the town leaders need 100 percent citizen input. To that end, town hall has released the detailed stakeholder survey for distribution to everyone in the 29016 zip code, which stretches far outside Town boundaries.

Surveys submitted to town hall with signatures by May 15 will be eligible for a drawing for one of ten $10 gift certificates to Blythewood restaurants. However, signatures are not required for the surveys to be counted.
June 1 is the final date for surveys to be received at town hall to be considered for planning purposes
Blythewood cannot stop growth, but it can guide it, with the valuable input of the citizens of the Town and surrounding community. This survey gives all citizens in the 29016 community the opportunity to make their voices heard. Their responses will shape the goals of the Comprehensive Plan and impact the community as it moves forward.
