BHS, WHS Track & Field athletes qualify for State

COLUMBIA – Over the weekend, Westwood and Blythewood competed in state qualifying meets. Top athletes from Saturday’s meet will advance to compete for a State title Friday and Saturday at Spring Valley High School.

Blythewood girls who advance to State:

Briana Green – 100m, long jump, triple jump. 4x100m relay

Arianna Williams – 200m, 400m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay

Latavia Bracey-Ransom – 400m hurdles, 4x400m relay

Makeshira Brown – 100m hurdles

Hailey Duncan – 4x100m relay

Katuria Glover – 4x400m relay

Monica Joy – 4x100m relay

Williams also set a new Blythewood High School record in the 400 dash at Upper State.

Westwood’s teams will send the following to compete at State:

Brianna Rodriguez – 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, 4x100m relay

Ticora Gaskin – 4z100m relay, 4x400m relay

Kennedy Rivers – 400m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay

Alean Robinson – 4x400m relay

Emma Ashley – 4x400m relay

Aniya Woodruff – 4x100m relay, discus

Robert Johnson–200m, 400m, 4x400m Relay

Johnathan Backstrom-400m H, 4x400m Relay, 4x800m Relay

Riggs Dash-4x400m Relay, 400m H

Rodriguez (100m hurdles, 400m hurdles) and Johnson (400m) pulled first place finishes at qualifiers and are expected to be heavy favorites.
