FAIRFIELD COUNTY – The Fairfield County Fire Service has been awarded the “Fire Safe SC” community designation again this year. The designation is awarded annually by the SC State Fire Marshal’s office.
“The Fire Service continually works to reduce fire-related injuries in our state, thereby decreasing the risks for residents and firefighters,” Director of the Fire Service, Jason Pope said. “We also promote consistent fire safety messaging and stress the importance of providing all relative data collected at fire scenes.
“Special thanks goes to all the volunteers and staff of the Fairfield County Fire Service who have supported our community risk reduction efforts over the past year. During 2020, in spite of the pandemic, our team members installed 304 smoke alarms and 37 carbon monoxide alarms in Fairfield County homes,” Pope said.
County residents can request a home safety visit and smoke alarm installation by completing an online form on the Fire Service website: https://www.fairfieldsc.com/departments/fire-service/smoke-alarm-request-form
