Redhawks, Bengals compete at State

COLUMBIA – Westwood’s Emma Ashley and William Tyndall competed individually at the South Carolina High School League’s 4A State meet on Friday. Ashley’s time of 20:12.52 put her in 17th place, the third year in a row she has finished in the top 20 in the state.  Tyndall, a junior, finished in 39th at 17:41.81.

The Blythewood girls’ team pulled 14th place out of 16 teams at the 5A meet.

Eighth grader Anna Kelly finished first for the Bengals in 36th place with a time of 20:39.24. Freshman Mallorie Hogue followed at 20:50.13 for 48th place. Eva Pendleton finished at 21:46.48; Jurnee Warren finished at 21:48.37; Kendall Shealy finished at 22:29.04; Zhanaya Casteal finished at 23:33.45 and JoAnn Edwards finished at 24:16.60.

Though the boys’ team did not qualify to compete at the state meet, freshman Spencer Shealy ran and finished in 67th place at 17:58.92 of 114 runners.
