RIDGEWAY – The Ridge Riders showed up at Geiger Elementary School bright and early Friday morning and handed the school’s Principal, Myra Bramlett a $2,000 check.

“We want all the kids in Fairfield County to have a Merry Christmas this year,” Ridge Riders President Dwight Robertson said.

Accepting the check, Bramlett thanked the group for what she said would be, “a blessing to our families in our community.”

Besides brightening the holiday for 20 or so selected families who Bramlets said might not have a good Christmas otherwise, the money will also help fund the school’s Angel Tree.

“For the last 10 years we’ve hosted an angel trees,” Bramlett said. “We adopt families from the community, and our angels give them things they need – uniforms, toys and other Christmas gifts. Sometimes we’re are able to provide them with meals as well.

We appreciate all the good things the Ridge Riders and the Pig on the Ridge steering committee do for us every year,” Bramlett said. “It makes a big difference for these kids and families.”

The Pig on the Ridge steering committee, represented by Don Prioleau and Rufus Jones, handed Bramlett a $1000 check. Revenue from the Pig on the Ridge event is also provided to Ridgeway churches to distribute to the children in the congregation.  Last year, Jones said, the POTR didn’t happen because of COVID-19, “but we still gave all the churches money. We still took care of them all.

“We haven’t helped with this particular project previously,” Jones said, “but we want to join the Ridge Riders who have made a large donation every year. The Ridge Riders do a lot of good and we want to be a part of it and help these families to have a nice Christmas.”

Rufus Jones and Don Prioleau, representing the POTR steering committee, present a check for $1,000 to Geiger Elementary School Principal Myra Bramlett to be used to purchase Christmas gifts for students whose families would otherwise not be able to purchase gifts.
