2 seats to fill; 1 candidate running in Jenkinsville election

JENKINSVILLE – Two seats are open for the Jenkinsville town council election on May 3, 2022. But when filling closed on March 4, only one person had signed up to run.

Clayrann White Small and Gail Pauling are the incumbents for the two seats, but only Small filed to run. Pauling did not file and no one else filed for either seat.  Small and Pauling have both served on council since 2008.

“Unless there is a write-in candidate for one of the seats, we’ll have an empty seat on Jenkinsville’s five-member council following the election,” said Jackie Beaver, Deputy Director of Fairfield County Voter Registration and Elections.

In addition to Mayor Gregory Ginyard, the two other members of council are Joseph McBride and the mayor’s wife, Betty Ginyard. Both the Ginyards’ and McBride’s terms are up in 2024.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., on  May 3 at the Jenkinsville Volunteer Fire Department, 7104 State Hwy 215 S. in Jenkinsville.
