BLYTHEWOOD – Miriam Anne Raines Smith died peacefully at Prisma Health Richland on April 19, 2022. She was born in Columbia, SC on January 7, 1952 to John William Raines and Eloise Trapp Raines. Anne grew up in Blythewood. She played basketball in High School and was a member of the last graduating class of the Old Blythewood High School in 1970. She went on to Wilson Vocational School where she earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She retired from the Red Cross.
Anne was a member of Sandy Level Baptist Church and enjoyed holidays with her family. She especially looked forward to the week that the family spent at the beach each year. She loved crossword puzzles, crocheting and time spent with her dog, Dottie and cat, Buddy.
Anne is survived by her sons, Thomas Smith (Rachel), of Summerville, SC and Scott Smith, of Blythewood. She is also survived by her mother, Eloise Trapp Raines; and two aunts, Minnie Smith and Martha Ann Trapp, all of Blythewood; as well as numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, John William Raines; and her sister, Sharon Kay Raines.
Funeral services will be held 12 o’clock, Friday, April 22nd, at Sandy Level Baptist Church, 408 Blythewood Road, Blythewood. Visitation will precede the service in the church fellowship hall beginning at 11 o’clock. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. Serving as pallbearers will be John Kirk, Jerry Boney, Randy Wilson, Bill Trapp, Joey Trapp and Eli Benson.
