BLYTHEWOOD – A crew of Westwood senior athletes made their college plans official last Wednesday.
Malaysia Tucker signed with College of Charleston. Tucker was a flyer for Westwood’s Competitive Cheer team. She is the daughter of Furman and Gail Allen. Tucker is a member of National Honors Society and an A/B Honor Roll student.
Will Thomas committed to play football for Tusculum University. An offensive and defensive lineman at Westwood, Thomas earned All-Regio nin 2021. His parents are Brian Thomas and Jabreal Barnes
Jaylin McDuffie, son of Bobby and Sandra McDuffie, committed to play football at Erskine College. McDuffie played tight end and defensive line for Westwood. He was a Richland County Player of the Year Nominee; 2021 All-Region selection; EH Redhawk Award Winner, and Special Teams Award winner.
Jeremiah Jennings committed to play football at Erskine College. A defensive back, Jennings a 2021 All-Region Selection for Westwood. His parents are Ronald and Wendy Jennings.
Issac Junious, son of Sonja Junious, committed to Ramah Junior College. Junious played wide receiver for Westwood’s football team.
Jamari Smith, who played defensive back at Westwood, committed to PWO at Newberry College. Smith’s mother is Tiffney Smith.
Zachary Gore committed to Erskine College. Gore played catcher for Westwood baseball. He earned the 2022 Silver Slugger Award and was named to the 2022 Region 4 all-region team. ; Baseball; Catcher. Gore’s parents are Buck and Chris Gore.
Liam Ginnery, son of Jim and Valerie Ginnery, committed to play baseball at Erskine College. Ginnery, a third baseman for Westwood, was named to the 2021 Region 4 All-Region team.
John Janco also committed to play baseball at Erskine College. Janco, son of Jennifer Janco, pitched for Westwood. He received the 2022 Cy Young Award and was named to the Region 4 All-Region team in 2021 and 2022.
Erin Wilson, a center fielder for Westwood softball, committed to play at Newberry College. Wilson, a four-year letterman at Westwood, is the daughter of Todd and Crystal Wilson.
