Randy Kelly brings home 1st for Bengals

COLUMBIA – Blythewood High School standout Randy Kelly took home first place in boys High Jump at the 2022 SCHSL 5A State Championships, his second claim of the title in as many years.

Kelly’s 6-10.00 jump easily beat out second place Canii Tucker of Fort Dorchester’s 6-04.00 in the 2022 state meet. Kelly also took the 2021 title with a 6-10.00 jump.

In February of this year, Kelly committed to continue his track career at Northwestern State University in Natchitoces, Louisiana.

Kelly earned All-American, All-State, and All-Region honors in the 2021 season.

In the summer of 2021, Kelly placed first in high jump (6-08.75) at the USA track and Field SC Association Championships in Columbia. He also competed in the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Oregon, where he finished 10th out of 20 in the high jump finals at the 6-06.25 mark.

Kelly is the son of Randy and Rickell Kelly. Kelly, a Junior Olympic Champion, was also a starting forward for the Blythewood Basketball team.
