Griffins, Eagles run at Chester

CHESTER – Richard Winn and Fairfield Central’s cross country teams took to Chester Sept. 30 for a meet against Chester, Central, Clover, Lake Pointe, Lewisville, Riverwalk and York Prep.

The Griffin girls topped the eight-team field. Judeah Warren (23:30) and Jurnee Warren (23:41) pulled fourth and fifth place finishes overall, finishing first and second for Fairfield. Kensley Green finished in seventh overall at 24:14 and Kendis Green finished 13th at 25:28. Teairra McDuffie placed 17th at 27:04.

Griffin boys finished second of the seven teams competing. Hank White led Fairfield runners with a season-best 18:24for second place overall. Rylan Woodard followed with a 20:30 finish for fourth place overall. Sidney Wilson (21:30) and Parker Douglas (22:21) finished in 13th and 19th places respectively. Krishi Patel rounded out Fairfield’s top five with a 21:07 time for 24th place.

Richard Winn’s girls finished in third place behind Clover and Fairfield. Hayden Branham was the top Eagle finisher in third place at 23:25. Ileanna Derrick finished sixth at 23:50. Harper Branham clocked 28:31 for 25th place. Ava DiPietro finished with a time of 31:29 and Ada Bass finished at 31:36.

With only four runners, the Eagle boys did not qualify a team score. Noah Britt finished first out of Eagle runners at 28:39. Logan Steed crossed the line at 34:19. Carson Taylor (34:45) and Gable Cahoon (35:48) rounded out Eagle runners.

Richard Winn returned to the course on Tuesday at Great Falls. The Eagle girls finished fourth of six teams. Hayden Branham again topped Eagle runners, finishing second place overall at 25:24.24. Harper Branham finished in 12th overatll at 33:50.99; Ada Bass finished 20th at 35:30.55; Rebecca Meadows finished 33rd at 41:32.79 and Charlotte Lewis was the fifth Eagle finisher.

Britt finished first again at 33:06.04 for 54th place. Carson Taylor had a time of 35:29.91; Cahoon clocked 37:54.5 and Steed finished at 39:51.73.

Fairfield will compete in the Trojan Invitational on Sept. 10 before hosting Richard Winn, Columbia, Keenan and Lewisville at a home meet on Sept. 13.
