FCSO to hold Citizen’s Academy

WINNSBORO – The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) is planning its next Citizens’ Academy, Class No. 9, tentatively scheduled to begin in mid- to late October and finish up in early December.

The class will be held every Tuesday from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., for 6 weeks at the FCSO Training Center (former SC National Guard Armory building) located at 5509 Old Airport Road in Winnsboro.

Participants must be 18 years of age and citizens of Fairfield County with no, or a limited, criminal history and they must commit to attending at least 5 out of 6 sessions.  The class size will be limited to 25 participants, and future classes will continue as interest dictates.

This class is designed to acquaint citizens of Fairfield County with the personnel, services, investigative techniques, and “day-to-day” operations of the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.

Topics covered include narcotics investigations, criminal investigations, SRO (School Resource Officers) functions, local gang awareness, COP (Community Oriented Policing) programs, special operations, and a general overview of the structure of the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.

Additionally, there will be numerous role-playing scenarios to allow participants the opportunity to experience different types of calls for service that we, in law enforcement, typically encounter.
