Redhawks, Bengals win on the road

BLYTHEWOOD – The Blythewood football team glided to a second-straight shutout victory, while Westwood rallied to win its first Region 5-4A game Friday night.

Jayden Harrison burst into the end zone from five yards out with 2:48 left in the game, and the Redhawks (2-5, 1-1) knocked off Lugoff-Elgin 18-14 Friday at Demons Stadium.

Kareem Harrison sealed the win with an interception with 1:41 left.

Earlier in the game, K’Shon Harrison had a 10-yard touchdown run and quarterback Dylon O’Neal had a TD pass to Sean Goddard.

The Bengals (5-2, 2-0 Region 3-5A) blanked Nation Ford 40-0. Quarterback David Herden threw two touchdown passes and ran for a third score. D.J. Tyler had two TD catches.

Blythewood plays host to Clover (4-3, 2-0). The Blue Eagles won 40-15 at Spring Valley Friday to remain tied with the Bengals for first place.

Westwood plays host to Ridge View (6-1, 2-0) Friday. The Blazers are coming off a thrilling 40-37 victory at Irmo in overtime.
