BLYTHEWOOD – Two developers are requesting zoning for a total of more than 1500 town homes and apartments on Wilson Blvd., near I-77. Both developments will receive the first of three votes at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, during a public hearing at Richland County Council. The public is invited to speak at the meeting before the vote is taken.
Applicant Bill Theus has requested an amendment to PUD zoning on 55.2 acres located at the intersection of Wilson Blvd. and I-77. If the request is approve, the developer could build 1,200 multi-family and single-family units along with some commercial units. The Richland County planning staff and the planning commission have both recommended that council approve the request.
Applicant Hyconic Holdings, LLC has requested rezoning at 10013 Wilson Blvd., a rural, wooded area adjacent to Keithwood Lane, for multi-family development. The developer says he will only build 188 town homes at the present time, but the requested zoning would allow 399 multi-family units. The planning staff and the planning commission have both recommended denial of the rezoning.
The council will take a total of three votes on the requests, but the public hearing on Nov. 17 is the only meeting the public will be allowed to speak to the issue.
