The Winnsboro Cotillion presents debutants, sons at Winter Ball

The Winnsboro Cotillion presented seven debutantes and recognized six sons on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at the 66th annual Winter Ball. At a reception prior to the ball, Mr. John Croom Hunter, president, and Mrs. Hunter; Mr. Brian Berry Bonds, president-elect, and Mrs. Bonds; and the debutantes, their parents and sponsors received members and guests.

The debutantes were presented by their fathers and then performed the traditional debutante figure with their escorts and marshals. Each debutante carried the Winnsboro Cotillion signature bouquet of pale pink roses, pink lisianthus, miniature orchids, freesia and greenery, clustered in an embossed silver holder. Following the debutante figure and grand march, members and guests of the cotillion enjoyed an evening of dining and dancing.

Miss Sydney Maria Boulware is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Scott Boulware and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas William Davis, Jr. Miss Boulware is also the granddaughter of the late Mr. Robert George Desrosiers and the late Mrs. Sheila Boulware Desrosiers. Miss Kaleigh Anne Dukes is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Manning Dukes and was sponsored by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ray Atkerson, Sr. Miss Dukes is also the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Manning Dukes. Miss Dukes’ escort was Mr. Joseph Andrew Bannister and her marshal was Mr. Daniel Otis Childers. Miss Dukes is a hospitality and tourism management major at Trident Technical College.

Miss Sybil Grier Hensley is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guerry Ladd Hensley and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Samuel Hensley and the late Mr. and Mrs. Pete Gunnar Gustafson. Miss Hensley’s escort was Mr. Carson David Stuck and her marshal was her brother, Mr. Richard Gunnar Hensley. Miss Hensley is a construction engineering major at The Citadel.

Mr. James Noah Edwards is the son of Mr. James Wayne Edwards and Mrs. Melanie Short Stephenson and the grandson of the Honorable Linda Huffstetler Short and the late Honorable Paul Edgar Short, Jr.  and Mr. and Mrs. James Roy Edwards, Jr. Mr. Edwards will attend Coastal Carolina University and major in Political Science.  Mr. Peyton Meares Gilbert is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Wayne Gilbert and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wayne Gilbert and Mrs. Jerry Wilton Ingle and the late Mr. Ingle. Mr. Gilbert is a 2022 graduate of Newberry College and earned a bachelor’s of science in physical education.  Mr. John Delaney Russell is the son of Mr. James Aloysius Russell and Mrs. Agnes Macfie Edwards and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Allan Russell and Mrs. Thomas Woodward Ruff, Jr. and the late Mr. Ruff. Mr. Russell attends the University of South Carolina and is majoring in cardiovascular technology. Mr. Tyler James Tanner is the son and Mr. and Mrs. Billy Gene Tanner, Jr. and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Brannon and the late Mr. Billy Tanner and late Mrs. Mamie Sullivan.  Mr. Tanner completed training in underground utility detection at Staking University and is employed by Loc8 One as a subsurface utility locator.
