Phillip Wayne Cooper, Jr.

Phillip Wayne Cooper, Jr., 54, husband of Lisa Boulware Cooper finished his fight against ALS on Friday, March 17, 2023. Born in Winnsboro, SC on February 23, 1969, to Donna Jackson Murphy and Phillip Wayne Cooper, Sr.  Phillip was the eldest child.

He was a 1987 graduate of Fairfield Central High School. Phillip was a machinist/journeyman tool maker at a number of companies including Mack Trucks. He later attended Midlands Technical College and the University of South Carolina, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Before his retirement due to illness, Phillip excelled as a project manager with FN America LLC.

Phillip & Lisa enjoyed 30 years of marriage. Together they built a beautiful life and enjoyed raising their children. As a family, they are members of Springvale Baptist Church, Lugoff SC. Phillip’s Christian faith was an anchor for himself and his family, especially during his battle with ALS.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he most enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with loved ones.

Phillip is survived by his wife Lisa, son Daniel Phillip Cooper, and daughter Anna Brooke Cooper.; His mother Donna Jackson Murphy (Eric), his father Phillip Wayne Cooper, Sr. (Karla). He is also survived by his grandmother Magdaleen Windham Cooper, brothers Brian Cooper (Amy) and Tony Cooper (Heather), sisters Kelly Cooper Matthews (Raymond) and Kaity Dawn Halstead (Richard), and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Phillip loved Lisa’s family as his own and is survived by her mother Odell Boulware, brother Harold Boulware, nephew Scott Boulware (Michele), and sister-in-law, Kim Carter Desrosiers. 

Phillip is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Oscar Wilbur Jackson, Sr. and Doris Smith Jackson; paternal grandfather, Samuel Phillip Cooper; and sister-in-law, Sheila Boulware Desrosiers (Bob). 

Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Monday, March 20, 2023, at Springvale Baptist Church in Lugoff. The family received friends one hour before the service in the church.  Burial followed in Centerville Cemetery in Ridgeway. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The ALS Association, SC Chapter, or Springvale Baptist Church.
