BLYTHEWOOD – The Blythewood softball team’s late rally could not overcome Clover’s 3-0 lead Tuesday night, as the Bengals fell 3-2 on the road.

The Blue Eagles scored a run in each of the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to go into the seventh with a 3-0 lead. Blythewood’s Neilah Browne, Keeley Hughes, and Makalah Ford lashed out back-to-back-to-back one-out singles to load the bases for Ashlee Hoile. Hoile’s ground single to right scored Browne, and Lauren Hardy grounded into a fielder’s choice that scored Hughes. With Gabby Cook running for Hoile at second and Hardy at first base with two out, Cook got picked off second base to end the game.

Blythewood (10-6) played at Dutch Fork Wednesday, travels to Rock Hill today, and travels to Nation Ford Monday.
