WINNSBORO – On July 21, 2023, the Fairfield County Disabilities and Special Needs Board held a commemoration ceremony in honor of the late Emily Team Whitfield, dedicating an office space in her honor.
Whitfield was both an employee and a board member of the Fairfield County Disabilities and Special Needs Board. She was with the agency from 1983 until her retirement in 1990, and continued to serve on the Board of Directors for another 9 years from 2001 to 2010. Whitfield was among the first employees of the Board—which was established in 1983—and served as the Executive Assistant to the first Executive Director, Joe Stephenson.
“Emily will be remembered fondly and honorably for her dedication to our agency and to those she served,” Laura Collins, Director of Fairfield County DSN said.
