Blythewood volleyball heads to postseason

BLYTHEWOOD – It didn’t get any easier for the young Blythewood volleyball team Wednesday as they took on defending 5A state champion Mauldin.

The Bengals, which have just two seniors on the team, finished the regular season 7-18-3 overall and 2-9 in Region 3-5A.

No. 5 Blythewood, which won four straight region championships from 2018-2021, has its share of solid performers.

Junior Kristen Galloway leads the team in kills with 164 and her kill percentage is 34.6. Sophomore Makalah Ford has 154 kills and a 31.5 percentage.  Freshman Jade Wells has 149 kills and a 25.8 percentage. Senior Taaj Rockman leads in kill percentage with 36.3 percent, or 107 out of 295 attempts.

Wells has 265 assists and junior Kate Kaczynski has 303 assists.

Wednesday’s winner plays the winner of No.3 Boiling Springs at No.2 River Bluff Monday.
