Adopt a senior citizen ‘angel’, provide gifts and needed items

WINNSBORO – Fairfield County Council on Aging’s (FCCOA) Angel Tree is up and ready the angels in the community to begin their adoption work.

According to the FCCOA Director, Angie Connor, the annual Angel Tree a program allows members of the community to adopt senior clients and provide holiday gifts for them. This is the 13th year for the program.

“Many seniors are not able to join in the festivities of the holidays and may be unable to celebrate with families. The Angel Tree project makes it possible for members of the community to adopt those seniors for the holidays,” FCCOA Director Angela Connor said.

FCCOA’s clients from around the county are represented by angel ornaments that are hung on a special tree at the FCCOA Center.  Each angel ornament includes a senior’s age, gender and general location. Members of the public are encouraged to adopt an angel and fill a box (provided at the Center) with holiday gifts and goodies for that senior and bring it to the FCCOA office.

To claim an angel, call the office at 803-635-3015 or drop by 210 E. Washington Street to claim your angels from our tree. All angels must be adopted and their gifts returned to the FCCOA office by Dec 6-8.

Join in on the Angel Tree Project and help spread some holiday cheer to seniors in the community this season.
