BLYTHEWOOD – Fairfield Central’s girls basketball team found some preseason holiday action last week.
The Griffins took to White Knoll for a two-day tournament on Nov. 24 and 25. They dropped a game to the hosting Timberwolves on Nov. 24.
White Knoll held a 21-15 lead after a quarter of play and would extend it to 35-25 by halftime. Despite outscoring the Timberwolves in the second half, White Knoll held on for the 54-48 win.
Fairfield returned on Nov. 25 to face off with Strom Thurmond, but fell by a narrow 38-37 margin.
Both Griffin teams will open regular-season play at North High School on Dec. 1.
