Westwood boys win over Spring Valley, Chapin; girls beat Vikings, fall to Eagles

CHAPIN – The Westwood boys basketball team improved to 7-1 with a 65-61 victory at Spring Valley Friday night and a 67-45 win at Chapin Tuesday night.

Against the Vikings (3-5), Westwood’s Dontae Walters scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds. Tavaris Bell also had 21 points and made five rebounds and five assists. Larry Brown had nine points and three assists.

At the Eagles, D’Marcus Thomas had 15 points and four rebounds, Bell had 14 points and five boards to lead the Redhawks.

The Westwood girls (6-4) edged Spring Valley 63-62. Makiah Thompson scored 23 points and Si’Niya Curry scored 22 points.

The Redhawks fell at Chapin 47-46. Curry had 14 points and Destiny Omeire and Aneya Britt each had 10 points.

Westwood plays host to Blythewood Friday.
