Souper Bowl of Caring kicks off

WINNSBORO – Since 1990, schools, churches, civic organizations, and community groups across the nation, including in Fairfield County, have used the energy and momentum surrounding the Super Bowl to help feed the hungry.

As team members of the Souper Bowl of Caring, county residents have raised funds and held food drives to benefit our local food charities.

Over the past several years, teams of students, congregations, members of community groups, and individuals have taken to the field to support the Fairfield Community Food Bank’s mission of easing food insecurity among our county’s residents.

“The Souper Bowl of Caring really brings our community together with its various food drives and fundraisers,” says Wendy Luce, executive director of the food bank.

“Through their efforts and our community’s generosity we’re able to restock our pantry shelves and buy meat and dairy items for an entire month. And the good cheer and smiles on the faces of the volunteers who deliver the food items tell us that they had a great time doing it—no matter whether their Super Bowl team won or lost!”

To participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring, look for a food drive or fundraiser at your church, school, or local shops and drop off your donation.
